Child Safety Standards Policy
last updated: december 12, 2025
At Lighthouse (Developer: My Lighthouse LLC), we are committed to protecting minors and preventing any form of child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) on our platform. Lighthouse requires users to be at least 14 years old to join and use the platform, and we take child safety seriously as part of our responsibility to our community.
This policy outlines the standards, expectations, and enforcement actions taken to prevent harm to children on Lighthouse. These standards apply to all content, conduct, messages, interactions, and behavior on the Lighthouse platform.
When we become aware of suspected child sexual exploitation or abuse, we act in accordance with applicable laws and report material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) or other relevant authorities. We work continuously with internal teams and external experts in online safety to update and improve our enforcement methods.
Policy Rationale
We do not allow content or behaviors that sexually exploit or endanger minors (real or perceived) on Lighthouse. This includes but is not limited to grooming, solicitation, exploitation, sexualization, trafficking, or production and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Content involving a real minor or depictions of minors in a sexual context are strictly prohibited—including realistic AI-generated, illustrated, cartoon, or fictional representations.
We understand that some users may share images of minors (including their own children) with innocent or positive intent; however, certain content may still be removed to prevent potential misuse, re-sharing, or exploitation.
What Is Not Allowed
The following content and activity are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate account removal, law enforcement reporting, and platform-wide restrictions:
1. Child Sexual Exploitation
Content, actions, or communication involving or encouraging the sexual exploitation of minors, including but not limited to:
- Sexual intercourse or implied sexual intercourse
- Oral sex or implied oral sex
- Genital stimulation or sexual touching
- Use of objects for sexual gratification
- Any sexual act involving animals
- Depictions of minors in sexually suggestive poses or contexts
This includes real, staged, AI-generated, fictional, artistic, digital, or animated content involving a minor.
2. Child Nudity
Content showing the nudity of minors (real or non-real), including:
- Visible genitals or anus (covered or uncovered)
- Uncovered female nipples
- Fully nude minors, even if non-sexual
- "Neck-to-knee" nudity even without visible genitalia
Exceptions may apply only in verified news, academic, or non-sexual health contexts.
3. Sexualization of Minors
We remove content sexualizing children, including:
- Sexualized costumes or lingerie
- Stripping or erotic poses
- Fetish content involving minors
- Presence of adult sexual arousal or sex toys
- Captions, emojis, or hashtags implying sexual context
4. Solicitation, Grooming, and Sexual Communication
We prohibit attempts to initiate sexual contact with minors, including:
- Requesting sexual images or sexual contact
- Private messages involving sexual language directed at a minor
- Attempts to lure, coerce, meet or traffic minors
- Sharing or threatening to share intimate images (sextortion)
5. Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM)
Any possession, creation, uploading, distribution, storage, or link-sharing of CSAM is illegal and will be immediately reported to NCMEC and law enforcement.
6. Non-Sexual Child Abuse Content
We remove content showing or encouraging:
- Physical abuse, severe neglect, or dangerous situations involving minors
- Promotion, praise, or instructions for harming minors
Exceptions apply only when such content is legitimately shared for public awareness, law enforcement, or child rescue purposes.
Enforcement and Account Restrictions
To protect minors on Lighthouse, we may:
- Remove violating content
- Restrict or disable accounts
- Limit messaging features for adults interacting with minors
- Restrict participation in groups, features, or platform areas designed for older users
Users may also be prevented from interacting with minors based on:
- Search behavior related to prohibited content
- Attempts to contact multiple minors
- Membership in removed or restricted groups
Sensitive Content Screens
For certain content involving minors, Lighthouse may place warning or sensitivity screens, including:
- Confirmed documentation of non-sexual child abuse preserved for legal or public safety purposes
- Religious or cultural immersion rituals that may appear distressing but are not abusive
Reporting, Review, and Appeals
Lighthouse provides in-app reporting tools accessible from profiles, messages, and posts. Users may also contact us regarding child safety concerns through the "Help" screen within the app. Users may report:
- Harmful behavior
- Suspected exploitation
- Suspicious or inappropriate adult-minor contact
All reports are reviewed and may be escalated to law enforcement as required.
Users may request a review (where legally permitted), but final decisions involving CSAM, grooming, or criminal activity cannot be reversed.
